Protection of Information
Sterlent Credit Union’s mission is an ongoing commitment to provide quality products and services to meet the financial needs of our Members. We always strive to deliver our services to all Members, regardless of locations, which translates into use of the newest technologies for service delivery. One of the delivery channels is the Internet. A logical concern arising from the rapidly changing world of technology and specifically the Internet is your right to conduct business with us in confidence, and your right to maintain privacy over your financial matters.

We want to assure you that we share your concern. Sterlent Credit Union is committed not only to providing you with the most efficient services, but to ensure that all business you conduct with us is held in the strictest confidence and that your transactions are safe and secure.

To this end, Sterlent Credit Union has adopted an Information Privacy Policy. The policy states that any information disclosed to Sterlent Credit Union in the course of normal business will be held in the strictest confidence. Employees are reminded that their responsibility to maintain this privacy continues even after their employment ends.

In addition to the privacy policies and procedures set forth in our Information Privacy Policy, we have also adopted specific measures to protect your privacy when you conduct business with us online. This Online Privacy Policy sets forth in greater detail how we treat your personal information online.

Online Banking Protection
We take a proactive approach to making the business you transact with us as safe and secure as possible, in both the delivery and storage of data.

Some areas of our web site require you to input certain information, such as your account number or personal identification number, to verify your identity and to enable you to perform certain tasks (for example, review your account history or transfer funds). Whenever we ask for personal information on our web site, we use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Technology for transferring data. This technology encrypts – scrambles – your account information so it is virtually impossible for anyone else to read it.

Online Applications/Forms
Sterlent Credit Union provides several online forms (i.e. applications, check orders) to better serve the needs of our Members. Personal information provided by the member via any of the online forms, is sent to us on secure lines, and is used solely to process the member’s request for service.

About Cookies
In order to better serve you and protect your account information, some of our online services use “cookies”. Cookies are nuggets of data that are stored on your hard drive as a file. Cookies are used to verify who you are while using these online services. Cookies make it easier, quicker, and more secure for you to log into and use these services. Cookies do not compromise your privacy. The data is usually stored on your computer’s hard drive as a file or folder and can be deleted at anytime if you choose.

In order to improve our web site, we gather and analyze data regarding usage of our web site, including number of hits, pages visited, length of user sessions, etc. to evaluate the usefulness of our site. This data is limited to general information and does not contain your name, account number or any personal information about you.

Handling of e-mail
If you choose to contact us via e-mail, or if you provide us with your e-mail address, please keep in mind that your e-mail address, and any other information your e-mail header shows about you, such as your name or organization, will be revealed to us in the e-mail. If you send an e-mail though our web site, we collect and store the personal information submitted by you to respond to inquiries for service or information. When you communicate with us via e-mail, we will use your e-mail for the specific purpose of responding to your comments or questions.

In addition, if you provide us with your e-mail address, we may send you Sterlent marketing information via e-mail from time to time. Your e-mail address will not be sold, nor will it be shared with others outside the credit union unless we are compelled to do so by law. If you wish to be removed from Sterlent marketing by e-mail, contact our member service department at 1-866-783-7536.

The web site e-mail as well as e-mail sent to credit union employee addresses via the credit union Internet address is not secure, and should be used only for information or inquiries of a non-sensitive and non-confidential nature. Likewise, since an Internet e-mail response back to you is not secure, we will not include confidential account information in the e-mail response.

Link Site Visits
If you link to another site from any of our pages, we cannot be held responsible for any information that may be gathered at a linked site. We cannot ensure that all linked sites follow similar privacy policies as ours and offer you maximum security and privacy. If you come across anything inappropriate due to a link, please let us know and we will remove that link.

Children's Online Privacy
We encourage all children to get parent or legal guardian’s permission before giving out any information about themselves to anyone by e-mail or over the Internet. We do not knowingly market or solicit information from children under 13 years of age without parental consent. We invite you to contact us with any concerns, comments, or questions you may have.

Your Responsibility Regarding Privacy
You can help maintain the security of your banking information by not sharing your I.D. or password with anyone, by changing your password periodically, and by remembering to always sign off after a banking session.

Our Continuing Commitment to Your Privacy
We are committed to keep you informed about how we protect your privacy and to limit the sharing of information you provide to us, whether it’s at a branch, over the phone, or through the Internet. We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our Members and former Members to anyone, except as permitted by law.
